Many academic degree programs — no matter how fulfilling, rigorous, and effective they are at producing capable scholars — are designed primarily to cultivate scholars who will spend their careers inside the university structure. Historically, this sequence has been a fairly natural one.

But things are not quite as easy as they once were. Because of shifts in the political economy of higher education, PhD earners today are in a very different position than in the past, and many are beginning to think outside the academy.

Maybe you’re fresh out and newly minted. Maybe you’ve been in it for a bit and are getting wandering eyes. Maybe you’ve been in it for a while and are searching for something new.

What is After Academia?

After Academia is a group coaching program where we discuss the many interfaces between academic training and non-academic work. As two PhD-holding, card-carrying academics who have successfully transitioned career trajectories, we can speak to our own journeys and bring others into a dynamic space where they can share their challenges, successes, and goals.

  • One 1-hour LIVE monthly coaching call dedicated to topics related to positioning your academic expertise in non-academic settings

  • New monthly resources to help you implement the insights and learnings from each live session so you’re not just absorbing information but actually applying what you learn to your professional life

  • Access to two PhDs with decades of teaching AND industry experience who can teach you how to build a career or business you love that still leverages your academic expertise

These coaching calls are live for a reason. As educators, we know the value of learning in real time and having the space to think, ask questions, and get feedback responsive to where you are today.
