Building a profitable business isn’t easy, but it can be simple.

There are rarely universal truths in business. That’s why I will never give you a one-size fits all approach to build, scale, or sustain. Every business is different and every business owner has different goals, needs, and desires.

That being said, there are foundational practices that help make building, scaling, and sustaining a business simpler.

My job is to help you build a strong foundation so that everything else in your life and business can operate with clarity and ease.

But that doesn’t mean we’re putting things on autopilot. I’ve always believed that coaches who promise you passive income are only out for a quick buck of their own. Because if I’ve learned anything in my 8+ years of business, selling financial freedom is much easier than actually acquiring it.

But I also know that working hard and pushing yourself to grow a business that makes a lot of money means nothing if you don’t also intentionally build in the freedom to enjoy it along the way.

I wasn’t always happy with where I am in business. And if I’m being honest, some days are still really hard. But long gone are the days where I want to “burn it all down” and swap my entrepreneurial life for a 9-5 cubicle. I didn’t just wake up one day feeling that way, though. It took time, practice, and a lot of trial and error to finally feel like I have a business I actually want to own. And I want to help you feel that way, too. I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit ever since I can remember. I was always coming up with different ways to make money, even as a kid. Extra chores at home. Gardening for neighbors. I worked all through high school and college, typically balancing more than one job at a time because I genuinely enjoyed the WORK. While earning my MA in Communication in 2016, I had the opportunity to intern at a social media agency based in New York. It’s there that I realized you really can make money on your own terms if you allow your creativity and curiosity to flow. I continued working in social media as a freelancer while finishing my MA and earning my PhD. After making my first six-figure year as a freelancer in 2019, I decided it was time to make things official, and Social Intellect, LLC was born. Even after I knew I wouldn’t pursue an academic career, I continued to work on my degree until I graduated with a PhD in Communication and Persuasion in 2023. In the process, my business made over a million dollars, with a 70%+ profit margin. But it’s not been all work and no play. In that timeframe, I’ve traveled to 5 countries, bought my first house, adopted my 3rd cat, and visited friends and family more than I ever have before I started my business. Because like you, I have a lot of goals and aspirations that have nothing to do with my business and everything to do with living life. I’ve done hard things, and the results, while successful, weren’t always pretty. But because of this, I know I can create a space where you can build the confidence to do hard things, too, AND feel supported when things feel messy and less than ideal.

I’ve been self-employed in some fashion for over 8 years. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced, and my clients face, is indecision. You know what you want, and sometimes you even know what you need to get you there, but the options feel overwhelming to the point where you reach decision fatigue. This is why laying out all your options and having an objective pair of eyes on your business is a key first step to get you unstuck.

Once you weigh your options, it’s time to decide. Yep, we’re making decisions early in the process because the sooner you develop that skill, the more experiences and data you’ll have to make better decisions for your life and business in the future.

EXECUTE your course of action

Here’s where we build your game plan to get you where you want to be. This isn’t going to be a perfect plan. Instead, consider this a roadmap to your final destination, with room for unplanned stops and the opportunity to take a few scenic routes along the way.

PRACTICE your course of action (again and again)

Step four is all about practice. We practice what we learn and refine as we go along. But we don’t change our course of action for 90 days. Because at this stage, we’re not after finding the perfect business plan or creating the perfect social media strategy. We’re here to improve on the course of action we’ve committed to testing.

TRIAL a new or revised course of action 

After 90 days, we assess your progress and devise next steps to get you closer to your goals. Sometimes this looks like revisions to your current course of action. Other times, this might require a bigger revamping. Either way, you’ve got a 5-step framework for going from “thought in my head” to “action in my business.”

 

You should never trust a coach that promises you specific results in a certain timeframe. But you should trust one that tells you they’re in it with you every step of the way.
